CFL

Random Thoughts

--Who won the "When Will Kenton Keith screw-up in Indy" pool??!!! Yes he didn't do a PacMan Jones or Chris Henry and it appears to be minor but he has a past of doing this. One suggestion to KK---go home at midnight!!! I hope this doesn't cost him his spot with the Colts.

--To those wanting the aforementioned Keith back in green. It won't happen. I and many others are quite happy with Wes Cates in the backfield.

--How much of the NFL draft did you watch????

Kipper's Mini-Me

Short and Sweet today. I love the up and coming "Kipper" at the Flames game....

Countdown

It's the opening night of the Stanley Cup playoffs. You know that means.

Stanley Cup Playoffs...A Filler 'Til Football

Let's not kid ourselves. In Saskatchewan, the NHL's post season means one thing.....Rider training camp is getting closer. Hold on Rider Nation. Just two more months before training camp gets under way for the beloved Riders. Let's get to the thing that matters around here.

But, in the meantime let's talk hockey.

Random Thoughts

--Drew Remenda and I may disagree on many things but we wholeheartedly are on the same side when it comes to no-touch icing. It must be instituted. The only question I have is why aren't the players pushing for this

--March Madness has been outstanding again this year. It doesn't get any better for excitement than Western Kentucky's win on Thursday and seeing Duke go bye-bye on Saturday didn't hurt either. San Diego beating Connecticut really screwed up my bracket though.

Who Makes the CFL Sked??

Who draws up the CFL schedule???

Curling....On The Radio?

Yes, curling on the radio. On Sunday Warren Woods, Lyle Muyres, Mitchell Blair and me will be bringing News Talk listeners the championship game of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on the radio. It is a little unconventional, but nothing new. When I worked in Estevan some two and a half decades ago, Chuck Pachkowski use to travel to the provincials, the Brier, and even the world championships in Scotland were broadcast on the radio. The advertising revenues from this event were huge. It wasn't just updates, it was stone by stone coverage. News Talk Radio has carried three Brier finals.

New Stadium Drawing ... Breaking News

In a Wray Morrison blog exclusive, I have obtained the drawing for the CFL stadium proposed for the city of Saskatoon.

It's more than a dream.....it's hallucination

Enough Recycling Already!

I have no issue with pro sports teams wanting to hire people with experience. John Hufnagel's winning past and connection to the glory days of the Calgary Stampeders make him a terrific hire for that particular team. Wally Buono's success over 13 years in Calgary more than justified the B.C. Lions decision to hire him back in 2003. I have nothing against somebody with experience. What I take issue with, is the CFL's inability to think outside the box and look at fresh blood.

Grey Cup at the Blades game.

Thanks to listener Steve Hiscock for this great photo from last nights Blades game. Rider Gene Makowsky carrying the Grey Cup to center ice. The Blades should consider having the cup show up at every game, they went on to beat Kootenay 3-1
