I am a dying breed. You may have noticed that my last post was December 19th. I am one of the few, in this day and age, who can walk away from a computer for an extended period of time and not miss it. From December 20th to December 30th, I didn't check a website, my e-mail, a blog, anything for 10 days. I never missed it. Needless to say, I'm not the best person to contact though e-mail. Remember the telphone?
My best Christmas gift this year came on Christmas Eve. For years, I’ve been doing a show on Christmas Eve, and my kids have been joining me.
This was the first annual Chef Malcolm Christmas show. My wife, Sarah Mills, came in to share Christmas traditions and I also embarrassed her by making her tell her cooking horror stories, thanks to those who shared theirs also - Crystal, I hope all the family turned up on time this year! Jeanette, thank you for your carrot cake recipe, do contact the newsroom, we do have a prize for you.
Below are the recipes Sarah shared.
Debbie's Chicken
4 chicken breasts - cut into cubes
1 cup white wine (or wine of your choice)
- While Mitchell Blair is pumped for the WJHC to start, I have no interest. I love hockey, but the WJHC tends to put the spotlight on the pampered young princes of Canadian hockey (and the egos who coach them). To me, it's little more than a staged, made-for-TSN event designed to pander to my patriotic sensibility and my love of hockey. My attention will be focused on the Mac's Midget Tourney in Alberta instead. I remember as a kid going to the 'Dome with Dad any my Uncle to watch the Mac's. It's pure hockey... not semi-professional "amateur" athletics.
My family home for the holidays. Sounds cheesy, I know. But if you've heard me on air or read my blog, you shouldn't be too surprised. I get a little goofy and cheesy from time to time. And sentimental too.

- I've made the trip home to Yorkton for Christmas. I believe that I will gain about ten to twenty pounds in the next week (conservatively speaking). Attention to the folks who run my gym... I'll be the one sweating icing sugar when I get back to town.
I have an appreciation for what Susan, my wife, must go through having to live with 3 boys. (2 sons and me.) The boys are 15 and 12. We were at my youngest son's Christmas concert last night at his school. As his class passed right by our seats to go to the stage the 15 year old whispered to the 12 year old...."Loser". All three of us, even the 12 year old, laughed. Susan rolled her eyes. Ah....Christmas. I'll admit it, I'm 40 going on 4. It keeps me young.
Steroids in baseball?....who'd a thunk it. What a poorly kept secret. Yesterday George Mitchell included 85 names of major leaguers, past and present, that allegedly used steroids. This is hardly a startling revelation. I do like the fact that baseball has taken this public hit. I worry about NCAA players, minor leaguers and highschoolers who may think that this is what they have to do to "make it". Maybe this public beating will make some re-think this.
It's the weekend!!!!! Another hockey tournament for my son, and my wife's Christmas party. I can't wait to lay low.
Do you need some help finding gifts for all the people on your list this Christmas? With only two weeks left until Christmas, I invited Sherri Athay on The Murray Wood Show today to talk about some of the best and worst gifts you can buy and tips for getting it just right.

Its your last day on this earth...your final minutes in this reality...the end is nigh...and you have the choice of one last taste of your favorite Christmas treat. What will it be??? For me, a very difficult decision. My wife Penney is the worlds greatest baker and whips up the meanest butter tarts I have ever tasted (even better than those of my 90 year old mom, please don't tell her)
