What a gorgeous Sunday. My 16 year old son and I made the drive from Saskatoon to Regina for day one of training camp. There was well over one thousand fans inside the park, and outside the park as well, as fans had the chance to pick up their season tickets and get a look at the Riders for the upcoming season. Here are a few observations.
-Receiver Weston Dressler is the real deal. He made some spectacular catches on day one.
I know, I know, I haven't blogged in a while. I really have no excuse, but I'm devastated.....
...has anyone seen my balloon?
How do you think Philippe Furrer feels? Take a look at him firing the puck in to his own net as Switzerland donwed Russia 6-0 yesterday.
Hello Humboldt!!! Congratulations on the RBC Cup title. The Broncos defeated Camrose 1-0 in the final of national junior "A" hockey championship in Cornwall Ontario Sunday. Edward Gale (cousin of Gary Leeman) scored the only goal of the game, and Regina's Taylor Nelson was fantastic in net making 31 stops.

Thank you to Norma and Gerald Bauman for the souvenir from Montreal. In the midst of cheering on the Flyers, they took time to think of us little people back in Saskatoon. (Maybe it was sympathy because the Habs lost. It's tough being a Canadiens fan) Philadelphia was, by far and away, the best team in that series.

TSN analyst Glenn Healy made me LOL (cool eh...."laugh out loud") Sunday night during the final stages of the second game of the Stars/Sharks series.
A few years ago Kelly Hrudey told me he never had anyone say anything nice to him in a handshake after a playoff series. Friday night New Jersey keeper Martin Brodeur gave New York's Sean Avery the cold shoulder after the Devils had knocked out the Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Short and Sweet today. I love the up and coming "Kipper" at the Flames game....
I've always said it. Hockey is just a filler until football season rolls around in Saskatchewan. BC Lions offenisve lineman Kelly Bates (pride of Humboldt) is one of my favorite people in the CFL. He continues to give back to his community.
